Alright, fellow gamers, let me take you on a wild ride through the Village of Lanxi in Black Myth: Wukong. This place is no joke – it's the opening act of Chapter 4, and let me tell you, the vibes here are straight-up eerie from the get-go. The chapter kicks off with one of those classic 'what in the world is happening' cutscenes. You and the ever-chatty Zhu Bajie are being hauled around in a box by two lesser yaoguais. Zhu Bajie's complaining, as per usual, almost gets you both in a pickle, but out of nowhere, the yaoguais are taken out by a mysterious woman who cleans her blade, smirks at you, and vanishes into thin air. Talk about a dramatic entrance!

Once you regain control as the Destined One, it's time to get your loot game on, fam. The village is packed with resources if you know where to look. Right off the bat, turn right to snag some Licorice. Don't sleep on the breakable pots on your left – smash 'em for some sweet Will. As you move forward, keep your eyes peeled:

  • Second house on the right: Another Licorice.

  • Further ahead: x2 Fragrant Jade Flower.

  • Left side: x2 Snake-Head Mushroom and a green wisp to absorb for energy.

Before you even step under the main arch into the village proper, there's a Puppet Spider waiting. But hold up! Don't just charge in. The area to the right of the arch is a loot paradise. You can find:

  • Snake-Head Mushroom

  • Fragrant Jade Flower

  • Jade Lotus

  • Another green wisp

Just watch out for another Puppet Spider lurking nearby.

Now, here's a pro-tip: before going through the arch, take the path on the left and head down the stairs. This area is crawling with green wisps and patrolled by a Lantern Holder. Take him down, then head right to find a plant where you can pick up the Goat Skull. At the end of the path is a chest, but opening it triggers an ambush by multiple Stone Spiders. Handle your business, claim your loot, and then head into the village.

Inside the village, things get spicy. On the right, a green wisp glows inside a small shack, but it's a trap – a Puppet Spider is hiding in the corner ready to jump-scare you. Beyond that, a Dragonfly Guai is on patrol. As you proceed, you'll face a nasty combo: a Lantern Holder, another Puppet Spider, and a Beetle Captain. My advice? Don't try to be a hero and fight them all at once. Lure the Lantern Holder out first and deal with them separately. Even with Zhu Bajie backing you up, this trio can mess you up good.

After clearing them, open the golden chest ahead. Then, take the path on the right. You'll see a bridge with hanging webs. Cross it, absorb the wisp on the right, and you'll find two Grasshopper Guais and a Puppet Tick guarding another golden chest in a web-covered shack. Defeat them to score a Septenary Heartfire Pill. Grab a Licorice at the path's end and head back.

The next stretch is a gauntlet. There are two green wisps to absorb, but the narrow path is guarded by more Grasshopper Guais and a Lantern Holder. Isolate and eliminate. On the left, a shack with a golden chest will spawn more Stone Spiders when you approach. Deal with them, get the loot. Above you on the right, a Dragonfly Guai guards another wisp.

Follow the golden trail from here, and it'll lead you to the Estate of the Zhu Shrine, guarded by a Lantern Holder. Interact with the door on the left, and a hilarious cutscene plays where you and Zhu Bajie try to disguise yourselves as monsters.

A Lantern Holder lets you in, but the lady inside – The Second Sister – sees right through Zhu Bajie's terrible disguise. Cue the boss fight! This lady is no pushover. She morphs into a giant spider and comes at you with her sharp, spindly limbs.

This fight is all about timing and patience. Dodge her lunges, watch for her web-based attacks, and strike when there's an opening. After a tough battle, you'll defeat her... or so you think. In a cutscene, she escapes onto the roof, fires a projectile at Zhu Bajie's head, and bolts. Zhu Bajie, in a rage, takes off after her. Your rewards for this chaos are a Gold Tree Core and Venomous Hair.

With Zhu Bajie gone, you're on your own. Head right and through one of the houses to find a gold chest, but beware of an ambushing Spider Puppet. From that chest, turn right to find two Wasp Guais and a Dragonfly Guai guarding a wooden chest near a tree. Clear them out, get the loot, and don't forget a Snake-Head Mushroom in the corner.

Finally, head back to the boss arena and enter the house Zhu Bajie ran into. Loot everything and break all the pots – you'll find a Celestial Jade Lotus Pill. When you're ready, drop down the hole. This starts a cutscene where you get caught in a massive web. As a giant spider looms, the screen fades to black... and you wake up in the Webbed Hollow. What a cliffhanger!

The Village of Lanxi is a masterclass in atmosphere and challenge. It teaches you to explore every nook, manage tough enemy groups, and face a boss that's both terrifying and cunning. It's a solid 10/10 for setting the tone for the rest of Chapter 4. Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got a giant spider to deal with in the Webbed Hollow. Wish me luck! :spider:
